Mountain House – Rice and Chicken
Arriving at a remote camp ground we had previously passed through on another adventure, the aged and warped picnic table beckoned us to take a load off and enjoy the lakeside view. It wasn’t long until we dug a meal that is a camping classic out of our bags.
Mountain House Rice and Chicken is just that, classic simple fair that doesn’t fail to satisfy every time. It fills you up and keeps you going with no fuss and little muss.

Preparation
Preparation
Like most things dehydrated, this was incredibly easy to prepare. Once we had given the dry ingredients a good shaking up, we opened the pouch and removed the 02 absorber that keeps the contents fresh. After you have boiled 2 cups of water, carefully add it to the bag. Simply stir and wait 8-9 minutes and you’re done.
- Only 15 minutes to fully prepare.
Taste
Taste
While nothing about Mountain House Rice and Chicken shouts amazing at us, it is exactly what is claims to be. A tasty mixture of chicken and rice of the same caliber that we would make at home. The contents rehydrated well, the chicken flavor was evident in the rice, the salt was well balanced, portions large, and our stomachs were quite satisfied. This is a go-to camping classic.
- Filling large portions.
- Balanced chicken flavor and salt.
