Mountain House – Chicken Noodle Casserole
It happens, even to those of us at OutdoorFoodLab. We are so desperate to get out of town and into the woods that, yeah, we to, go car camping. After the trunk is empty and the tents are up, it’s time to eat!
Out of our grab bag of food comes Mountain House Homestyle Chicken Noodle Casserole. It was super simple to make and looked quite delicious! Unfortunately, it turned out to be a fairly bland pasta salad.

Preparation
This meal was standard preparation for dehydrated camping fair. Remove the O2 absorber, pre-mix the dry ingredients, and 2 cups of boiling water, stir and let sit for 8-9 minutes.

Taste
Taste
Our initial impression of Mountain House Homestyle Chicken Noodle Casserole was that it rehydrated quite well and looked absolutely great! Once we began chewing we noticed that it really could have used some spices, especially black pepper, and that the ingredients tasted low quality. We would compare it to a semi cold chicken pasta found at a mediocre grocery store deli.
- Looked amazing.
- Chewy, fatty meat.
- Did not stay warm in the package.
- Needs some spices to combat the bland taste.
