Vegetarian Hiking Meals Reviewed and Compared

We’ve rated the best vegetarian meals side by side, and the results are in. There are a few factors that go into a products overall review score. Mountain House’s Granola with Milk and Blueberries narrowly beat out Backpacker’s Pantry Pad Thai on an over all score basis, simply because it was so easy to prepare.

It is difficult for dehydrated meals to get a high score at OutdoorFoodLab. This is because of the prep work involved with making them. Most dehydrated meals require boiling water, which means the hiker needs to carry something to boil the water and wait for re-hydration.

Backpacker’s Pantry Pad Thai won in taste, but it was a bit involved to prepare. Mountain House’s Granola with Milk and Blueberries was a breeze to make. Since it’s calorie to weight ratio was on par with the Pad Thai, it narrowly won out on it’s high prep rating (requires no boiling water).
